I am a believer that according to God’s law, all edible substances that were made by Him, were made good. To be exact Genesis 1:31 states ‘He looked at everything He made and it was VERY Good’. What God makes good does not become bad because the best selling diet plan writer declares it to be so. Man can say some very convincing things, but even his truths are only seen in a mirror dimly. God on the other hand is all knowing and the words that he speaks concerning us - they are TRUTH and they are LIFE!
These days it seems our greatest struggles and battles lie within what we speak, have spoken, or have heard others speak concerning our eating habits and nutritional needs. Think of some of the things people say; I can’t live with out _______, I don’t eat __________, and we all have to die from something, let me eat __________ and die happy.
I want to reiterate this fact all foods were/are made good and given a specific purpose to bring about a specific outcome. It’s only when we become slave to food or brought under its power, that it becomes harmful to our well being.
Can you become a slave to food or live under foods power? Yes U Can!!!
You become slave to something by simply choosing to serve it. Food was designed to sustain the body, provide sustenance, and nutrients, then metabolized to provide the body with a steady source of energy. You were not made to serve food; food was made to serve YOU.
Remember that commercial with the famous slogan ‘Ahhh The Power of Cheese’. This statement is real for most foods with a high fat content! Many of you may laugh, but foods addictive power is just as powerful as your most potent drug…and it’s legal too!
Food addictions can cause you to risk your life for just one more bite! Some people have a closer relationship to food than to their spouse, friends, or children. Some of us spend our latest nights and earliest mornings being lulled by food. We even get to the point where we allow food to dictate our day to day behaviors. For example, if we go too long between meals our countenance falls and we become sad and sometimes depressed. Yet when eating, we’re bubbly with excitement. It’s as if we enter a state of powerlessness to food by way of our senses (see, taste, smell).
There is one fact however that we are not reminded of enough. Our weapon to defeat our senses or the powerlessness we feel lie inside of us. We were implanted by the Master Creator with everything we need be free from our poor eating and nutritional habits.
Each individual has been programmed with a natural internal signal (I.S.) that is released from the brain to alert us when we’re hungry, thirsty, and feel full. We must learn to acknowledge its existence and utilize its accuracy. A research study was conducted where participants were to consume meals, some blind folded and some not. Those that were blindfold were tested once without a blind fold and a second time with a blind fold. The results showed that those who were blindfolded ate 22% less and had a feeling of fullness while consuming smaller amounts. Those who were not blind folded consumed a larger amount before recognizing feelings of fullness. It was concluded that the blind folded subjects relied more on their body’s internal signal to tell them when to stop eating.
In addition to this natural internal signal, believers also possess a spiritual signal called the Holy Spirit. He is our Helper and is willing to instruct us on the foods we consume that their function to may beneficial to our existence.
WHAT’S HELPFUL
- EAT A WELL BALANCED MEAL
- ATTENTIVE TO INTERNAL SIGNAL
- RELY ON THE HOLY SPIRIT
WHAT’S NOT HELPFUL
- OVER-EATING MEALS
- IGNORING INTERNAL SIGNAL
- SLAVE/POWERLESS TO SENSES
It would appear unorthodox blind folding yourselves at every meal to flee feelings of powerlessness, but we can become more attentive to the prompting of the Helper and our internal signal. Let’s begin to approach our daily food intake not as that of a slave, but as one that has been made free. Food for the stomach and the stomach for food - the responsibility is ours for the time being …Eat to BWELA!!!
Everything is permissible (allowable and lawful) for me; but not all things are helpful (good for me to do, expedient and profitable when considered with other things). Everything is lawful for me, but I will not become the slave of anything or be brought under its power. - Paul (1corth 6:12)

These words are so truthful and applicable for me, I was reading yesterday in Romans about whatever you choose to obey becaomes your master. Great stuff! Thanks so much, I am going to try the blindfolding thing! Thanks Mrs. Nez :)
